It’s frustrating to see your children unable to put their phones down. Even after talking to them for a while about the negative effects of overusing their phones, they still can’t help it. Whether it’s social media or video games, your children have tons of reasons for spending too much time on their phones. If you want to prevent it from happening, you might have to consider spending more time with them.
The reason why it’s difficult for your child to stop using the phone is that it’s a reliable partner for them. When they feel alone or bored, they can always open their phones. They might not have a lot of friends at school or anyone to share their feelings with. Therefore, having their phones with them can serve as their safety net.
Take a break from work
If you realise that you’re already spending too much time at work, it might be time to take a break. You can’t keep doing it since you’re already hurting your relationship with your child. Yes, you’re working to provide for the needs of your family, but it’s not your only responsibility. You also have other things to do. Spending time with your child is one of them.
Try doing more things together
Some children understand that their parents are busy with work and are unable to spend time with them. They already live with that fact. They might feel bad about it, but they will try to hide what they feel. The best thing to do is to spend more time doing things together. You can start a game night where the entire family plays together. You can also spend weekends doing various hobbies or visiting local tourist attractions.
Ask them about how they feel
Take time to ask your children about their day. A few minutes each day won’t hurt. It doesn’t matter how busy you are with work. You need to always spend time asking your children about how their day went. You don’t want to create an environment at home where you don’t seem to care about each other. The children will gradually move away from you and think that they don’t need you anymore. One day, they will be all grown-up and you will regret that you didn’t spend enough time with them back then.
Things will start to change
If you notice your children getting addicted to their phones, your initial reaction is to get angry. You will yell at them for their actions. You can scream all you want and it won’t change anything. Your child will still keep playing with the phone. The first thing you need to do is buy EMF protection. Since you can’t immediately change your child’s ways, you can at least prevent adverse impacts on health from happening. The next step is to change your schedule and include your child in the picture.
It pains you to see that you don’t have a close bond with your children anymore, but it could also be your fault.
